Recently, Beijing Zhixin Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Zhixin Company") jointly developed a "new sensing cable" with State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power and other units. Cables are the "blood vessels" of the power grid system, and their health status directly affects the safety of the power grid. However, traditional underground cable management has long suffered from four chronic problems: difficulty in quality supervision, difficulty in construction control, difficulty in precise fault location, and difficulty in real-time operation monitoring. These pain points not only restrict the efficiency of power grid operation but also put forward higher requirements for Cable Machinery and High-Quality Cable Production processes.

In order to overcome this challenge, in 2021, Zhixin Company formed a special team with United Nations Grid Jiangsu Electric Power. After a year of key technological breakthroughs, they successfully developed a new type of sensing cable that integrates identity authentication and temperature sensing in June 2022. This product implants RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) electronic tags with temperature measurement function — a process that relies on high-precision Cable Machinery to achieve stable implantation without damaging cable performance. It is equivalent to laying "neurons" for the "blood vessels" of cables, fundamentally solving the industry pain points of traditional cables relying on manual inspection, low efficiency, and inability to capture temperature changes in real time.

 

Four Innovations Support the Construction of Cable Digital Twins, Driven by High-Quality Cable Production Concepts

The new sensing cable achieves dual control of underground cable "identity + temperature" through four core technologies, and each link is guaranteed by advanced Cable Machinery and strict production standards:

1. High-precision "body temperature monitoring chip" — self-developed passive RFID temperature measurement chip, with an accuracy of ± 1 ℃ in a wide temperature range of -40 ℃ ~ 150 ℃. During the cable extrusion process, the High-speed cable extruder ensures uniform coating of the chip's protective layer, enabling the chip to sensitively capture temperature anomalies and improve the ability to identify hidden dangers.

2. High resistance to "identity tag core" — The electronic tag adopts a microstrip structure anti-metal design, combined with a PTFE flexible antenna substrate, which is resistant to metal interference, stress, and high temperature, with a recognition distance of up to 3 meters. Specialized Cable Machinery is used for precise lamination and fixing of the tag, ensuring its stability in cable bending and long-term operation, suitable for cable full-scene applications.

3. National Security Protection — Built in National Security SM7 algorithm to prevent data cracking and tag cloning, ensuring that identity and data are "one chip, one secret". 4. Full chain control system — Build a cable lifecycle management system with "one code connection and full chain traceability". The relevant achievements have also been tested by authoritative third-party organizations such as the China Taier Laboratory of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the Commercial Cryptography Testing Center of the State Cryptography Administration, and the Testing Laboratory of the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Technology and Industry Promotion Center, and have been identified by expert groups as "internationally leading level". This achievement is not only a breakthrough in sensing technology but also a result of the joint improvement of Cable Machinery and High-Quality Cable Production levels in China.

The new sensing cable has been applied for 120 kilometers in Jiangsu, further verifying the reliability and stability of the product in large-scale application scenarios.
